PI Track - Are you a doctoral level talented early-career researcher committed to

a career in cancer research with the potential to lead projects in sub-Saharan

Africa and interested in becoming proficient in research oversight and

governance, building skills and a scientific project focus towards applying for

independent grant funding (SSA)?

OR

PM Track - Are you a talented project manager living and working in SSA and

interested in developing your skills to better manage a cancer research project?

If so, we invite you to apply to participate in a 9-month training activity funded by the

National Cancer Institute (D43-CA260640) as part of their commitment to support

cancer research that enables equitable impactful global scientific collaboration by

strengthening institutional capacity in low-and middle-income countries for global

cancer research. This program aims to create a cadre of individuals who will obtain

fundamental skills to lead and support cancer research in SSA who will be able to

disseminate best practices for high quality cancer research conducted in Africa. This

initiative builds on existing partnerships within the Men of African Descent and

Carcinoma of the Prostate (MADCaP) Consortium and other SSA cancer consortia.


Key Dates:

• Applications open: October 4, 2024

• Live Webinar for Potential Applicants: October 15, 2024

• Letter of intent due: December 20, 2024

• Application due: February 7, 2025

• Scientific Merit Review completion: March 2025

• Decisions announced: April 4, 2025

• Training commences: May 5, 2025
